We are also developing a RPG game separately. But, it does not mean that we have changed direction. What motivated you to start a non-RPG product like Disaster? Or does it have more in common with the role- playing genre than we realize? Mirohide Sugiura: I think it is only because our company started with RPGs, but we are always examining various ideas and various possibilities. When you see it, you may feel that this something different from the types of games we have worked on before. What's the story? Mirohide Sugiura: The official announcement has not been made yet, so you may want to ask Nintendo regarding this. Tell us a little about Disaster: Day of Crisis if you will. IGN: The team is now working on another title as well. Is that still on the way? When can we hear more about it? Mirohide Sugiura: The plan for a DS version is currently pending, and we, are awaiting direction from the publisher. If+you+were+wondering+what+a+ IGN: A DS version of Baten Kaitos was said to be in production. There is possibility that we could start to develop the title if certain circumstances and conditions are met. However, it does not mean the world of the Baten Kaitos will end. Will we be seeing it make the transition to Wii as well? Is the story over, or are we merely chapters in? Mirohide Sugiura: The development staff of the Baten Kaitos is developing an idea for another title at this point in time. IGN: Baten Kaitos has been a flagship title for Cube. Regarding the battle for example, the way you use the Magnus is changed. IGN: When considering Origins, what gameplay elements were added and removed from the original design? Mirohide Sugiura: There are various elements that have been altered. Sixty one total tracks are included in the game. Motoi Sakuraba is in charge of all of the musical compositions in this game as well. Was Origins composed by Motoi Sakuraba as well? How many tracks can we expect in the final score? Mirohide Sugiura: Mr. IGN: The audio design of the original was simply stunning. However, you will need to gather a certain amount of Technical Points, rather than specific Magnus, to class-up. As far as class up is concerned, it will be done in the church just as in the previous game.

IGN: How has the leveling up been handled in Origins? Is it similar to the manual allocation in the previous games? Have you made any advancement in the system? Mirohide Sugiura: There will be no leveling up in the church this time, but there is a feature that characters are automatically leveled up after the battles. If you encounter the enemy when your Heart Gage is filled after you do Heartwing Dash, you will be able to charge the power required to use a special technique to go into the battle. For example, if you encounter a sleeping enemy, you can make a pre-emptive strike. Do you feel random battles are a thing of the past, or were they simply not fitting for the design? Mirohide Sugiura: In this game, there will be advantage or disadvantage based upon the circumstances in which you encounter the enemies. Instead, players can choose when to fight. IGN: World exploration doesn't include random battles with enemies. The+one+in+the+front+is+your+new+partner.++The+one+in+the+back+is+about+to+be+sorry.

Are there more full-motion cut-scenes in Origins as well, or have you evolved the style? Mirohide Sugiura: There is no CG movie this time, but you will be able to see an opening movie with a different atmosphere compared with the previous one. Please enjoy finding out for yourselves! IGN: Baten Kaitos began with a very realistic style, specifically in trailers and cinematic scenes. You will be able to see some brand new Magnus, although some of the Magnus were taken out. What is the total for Origins? Will players find every chard from the original game and more, or were some taken out to perfect the game's balance? Mirohide Sugiura: You will be able to collect 655 pieces of Magnus altogether. IGN: Baten Kaitos offered over 1,000 cards. This new features allows each player to enjoy the game even more depending on how he/she plays. The other is "Field Guide" that can be completed by defeating monsters. However, it contains features like "Mix" that enables players to create new Quest Magnus by mixing 2 of them. Does Origins provide as much gameplay as the original? More? Mirohide Sugiura: We have developed the game assuming approximately the same length of playing time as the previous Baten Kaitos. IGN: The original game was praised for its amazing amount of depth, sitting at just under 50 hours of gameplay. Because of this, you will be able to experience the story when each character was younger. YES NO IGN: So will we be seeing a few characters returning for the sequel? Mirohide Sugiura: Since the game takes place prior to the first Baten Kaitos, you will see, Geldoblame, Giacomo, Laidkhan, and Gibari, who appeared in the previous game.
